Cotton paper and polymer substrate
|
Banknotes in 100-, 200-, commemorative 200-, 500-, and 1000-peso denominations are printed on cotton-fiber paper, while 20-peso, 50-peso, and commemorative 100-peso banknotes are made of a polymer substrate. These materials have a consistency and texture different from that of bond paper. This difference is noticed when touching the banknote, and when placing it under ultraviolet light (also known as “black light”) as it does not shine, as compared with bond paper, which does.
