Cotton paper and polymer substrate
|
Banknotes in denominations of 100-, 200-, commemorative 200-, 500-, and 1000-peso are printed on cotton-fiber paper, while the 20-peso, 50-peso, and commemorative 100-peso banknotes are made of a polymer substrate. These materials make their consistency and texture different from that of bond paper. This difference is perceptible when touching the banknote, and when placing it under ultraviolet light (also known as “black light”) as it does not shine, in comparison with bond paper which does shine.
