New Libertad series

Distributors (PDF)

Given wide acceptance that gold and silver coins belonging to the New Libertad Series have had, the decision was made to redesign their reverse sides in order to make them more attractive to the public. In 2000 the New Libertad Series in gold was launched. The main change was a different view of the Angel of Independence monument on the reverse side.

Another major change was the redesign of the obverse side of the one ounce coin: the National Shield is surrounded by different eagle designs used on National Shields throughout Mexican history as well as the eagle which appears on the Codex Mendocino. No change was made to the obverse side of the smallest coins.
