100th anniversary of the National Autonomous University of Mexico

Distributors (PDF)

The reverse side of the coin shows a group of contemporary, stylish buildings emblematic of the University Campus, which is part of Mexico’s Cultural Heritage: the main facade of the Rectory Tower, built by Mario Pani, Enrique del Moral and Salvador Ortega, shows a silhouette of the university emblem; the Main Library, the project of Juan O'Gorman, Gustavo M. Saavedra and Juan Martínez de Velasco, is decorated with O’Gorman’s murals "Historical representation of culture”; the north wall corresponds to the pre-Hispanic period depicting the duality of life and death; similarly, in the background there is a silhouette of the University Olympic Stadium designed by the architects Augusto Pérez, Raúl Salinas Moro and Jorge Bravo, the front of which is decorated with the mural “The University, Mexican family, Peace, and athletic youth" by Diego Rivera.

In the coin’s lower mid field, below the group of buildings, are elements taken from the Rectory’s sculpainting called:  "People to University. University to the People" by David Alfaro Siqueiros. This side’s legends remind us of the university coin’s commemoration "The Spirit will Speak through my Race".

The obverse side of the coin shows the National Coat of Arms surrounded by the legend United Mexican States.
