One of the main duties of Banco de México in the fight against counterfeiting in Mexico is to train financial institutions, legal authorities, government institutions, companies, and the general public on how to identify domestic and foreign banknotes.
This function is performed through the Security Directorate, which, among other activities, is responsible for fulfilling requests for courses directed to federal and state legal authorities, staff at financial institutions and businesses, and the general public, with the aim of imparting the knowledge needed to identify banknotes and coins.
The training is given by experts from Banco de México who are highly specialized in the identification of banknotes, not only domestic but also foreign.
In the last three years, Banco de México has given around 150 training courses in which more than 6,000 people have participated throughout the country.
