Cotton paper and polymer substrate

Banknotes in denominations of 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 pesos are printed on cotton-fiber paper, while the 20-peso and 50-peso notes are made of a polymer substrate. These materials make their consistency and texture different from that of common bond paper. This difference is perceptible to touch.

Banknotes placed under ultraviolet light (also known as “black light”), do NOT shine. False banknotes DO shine under black light.
