This gives the surface of the banknotes a feature which is perceptible to touch; that is, perceptible when you touch the note with your fingertips. It is present mainly in the text “BANCO DE MÉXICO”, in the denomination number to the lower left, and in the areas of the bust-head figure.
In the 20- and 50- peso banknotes, intaglio printing can also be perceived in the numeral and diagonal lines over the see-through window. In the 100- and 500-peso notes, it can be felt on the number printed with color-shifting ink. In the 200-peso banknotes, on the book, the feather pen and the left-hand text indicating the denomination. Finally, in the 1000-peso banknotes, on the towers, the chapel and the left-hand text indicating the denomination.
When the note is new, the relief is perceived more easily.
