Credit unions are public companies that facilitate for their members the investment of resources to support the productive activities and/or services they perform. Credit unions can operate only in the sectors in which their members perform their activities.

Credit unions are governed by the General Law of Credit Organizations and Auxiliary Activities and supervised and authorized to operate by the CNBV in accordance with Article 5 of this law.
