Note: Figures subject to revision. Totals and variations may be different from the sum of its components due to rounding.
Given that banks and financial groups have acquired or established multiple-purpose non-bank financial corporations, regulated entities (sofomes E.R.), to manage a portion of their credit portfolio to different market segments, from June 2016 and retroactively to March 2008, commercial bank data are shown consolidated with the corresponding data of their sofomes E.R. subsidiaries. Foe more details, see explanatory note of the press release 'Monetary Aggregates and Financial Activity in July 2016' (Agregados Monetarios y Actividad Financiera en julio de 2016). Data on credit granted directly by sofomes E.R. subsidiaries of commercial banks and financial groups are published in section 'Assets and liabilities of other depository non-bank corporations' (CF357 Multiple-purpose non-bank financial corporations (re), subsidiaries of commercial banks y CF356 Multiple-purpose non-bank financial corporations (re), subsidiaries of financial groups).
1/ Includes credit granted by commercial banks and sofom E.R. subsidiaries of banking institutions and financial groups.
2/ This statistic is affected by the recent incorporation of some unregulated intermediaries to statistics due to the process of conversion of these intermediaries to regulated that has been given since December 2014, and more particularly since the third quarter of 2015.
3/ Other Alternative Sources of Domestic Lending refers to the total balance of non-bank credit cards, whose source of information are the consolidated financial statements of department stores reporting to the Mexican Stock Exchange Market (BMV). The historical data series might exhibit significant quarterly variations due to the listing and delisting of firms from the Mexican Stock Exchange Market.
4/ Performing and non-performing residential mortgage loans of the National Workers' Fund (INFONAVIT and FOVISSSTE). Source : CNBV.
5/ Includes non-bank liabilities of companies listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange Market (BMV) and debt issuance of non-listed companies.
6/ In case of non-bank debt of a corporation, this sector is determined based on economic activity of the subsidirary with the largest share of total group sales.
7/ Includes total lending, domestic and foreign financing.
8/ Total internal debt issuance from listed and non-listed companies.
9/ Obtained from the Balance Sheets of companies listed on BMV, includes providers and non-residents.
Methodological Note:
Commercial and development banks lending is obtained from credit statistics classified by activities published by Banco de México. Credit is defined as loans, non-performing loans, rediscount credits, loans denominated in UDIS and related to FOBAPROA restructuring program (including accrued interests). The source for the non-bank lending information are the statistics of assets and liabilities of non-bank financial intermediaries, which contains savings and loans institutions (SAPS), special purpose financial institutions (Sofol), credit unions, leasing, factoring enterprises and multiple-purpose non-bank financial institutions regulated entities (Sofom E.R.) Includes providers and non-residents It also includes information regarding non bank liabilities of companies listed in the Mexican Stock Exchange Market and other securities. In addition, information regarding credit card of others non-bank lending and department stores(Copel, Elektra, El Palacio de Hierro, El Puerto de Liverpool, Sanborns, Sears and Soriana) is included. Foreign lending information is consistent with the information of Outstanding Consolidated Claims on Mexico.
Since March 2001 information regarding the notes of the restructuring programs of 'Cetes Especiales UDIS' and 'Esquema de Participación de Flujos con FOBAPROA' were substituted with its corresponding restructured loans. These changes allow a better assessment of bank lending.
In August 2005, financing granted from INFONAVIT was included within mortgage credit.
Any methodological change on this table is applied retroactively since December 1994.
