The metallic coins belonging to the C-type entered circulation in 1996 to conclude with the change of monetary unit. They are denominated in “Pesos” of the currently valid monetary unit and have features similar to those of the B-type.
The following coins continue to be valid for transactions.

The circle of the Solar Stone representing god Tonatiuh with the fire mask. In the upper side and in the center of the coin, the symbol “$” and numeral “10” appear, surrounded by the Ollín glyph (related to motion and to the fifth sun). This side of the coin also includes Mexico’s mintmark "M°", and the inscription “AÑO 2000” (YEAR 2000). The frame is smooth with an uneven edge. |
