The metallic coins belonging to the C-type entered circulation in 1996 to conclude with the change of monetary unit. They are denominated in “Pesos” of the currently valid monetary unit and have features similar to those of the B-type.

The 20-centavo coin belonging to the C-type continue to be valid for transactions.

In the center field, the national shield with the inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” (UNITED MEXICAN STATES) along the top of the coin.

Reverse

 In the middle part of the coin, the number ten “20” as the key motif and denoting face value; to its right the cent symbol “¢”; top center, the mint year; bottom center, the Mexican mint mark “M°”; to the left, parallel to 12-sided frame, a stylized image of the “Thirteenth Acatl Day of the Sun Stone.”
