The metallic coins belonging to the C-type entered circulation in 1996 to conclude with the change of monetary unit. They are denominated in “Pesos” of the currently valid monetary unit and have features similar to those of the B-type.

The 50-centavo coin belonging to the C-type continue to be valid for transactions.

In the center field, the national shield with the inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” (UNITED MEXICAN STATES) along the top of the coin.

Reverse

In the middle part of the coin, the number fifty, “50,” as the key motif and denoting face value; to its right the cent symbol “¢”; top center, the mint year; below the center, the Mexican mint mark “M°”; parallel to the semi-circular frame, at the bottom, a stylized image of the “Ring of Acceptance of the Sun Stone.”
