Numismatic collecting covers a large variety of coins, among them those that include contemporary mintages. Within this category, Banco de México sells coins that are legal tender in two types of finishes: non-circulating and proof. These have been put into sets presented in packaging and cases appropriate for improved conservation and appearance.

Sets of legal-tender coins out of circulation since 1970 and proof sets minted in 1995 are available:

Sets of legal-tender proof coins

Due to an effort made by Banco de México and the Mexican Mint, for the first time in the history of numismatic sales, legal-tender proof coins are for sale. These sets are presented in beautiful leather or velvet cases and contain eight coins in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 centavos and 1, 2, 5, and 10 New Pesos. It is worth noting that this is a limited edition of no more than 20 000 sets. The design of the coins making up each set is inspired by pre-Hispanic features taken from the Sun Stone or the Aztec Calendar.

It is important to mention that these sets constitute the only proof mintage denominated in New Pesos; in addition, they include the 5 New Peso coin, which in 1995 was minted exclusively to make up these sets. These characteristics make the sets into unique and special collections.
